A Fairy Tale

by Sylvia   Jan 3, 2010

"Along came a spider, sat down beside her."
Welcome to my web, the spider said.
The finest strands of silk woven just for you,
see how they glisten in the light.
Don't be afraid my dear, come into my house.
No need to fear me, I'll not hurt you,
lead you astray, for I would not lie.

Sweet, unassuming and little did she know,
the spider designed his web with care to entice,
draw in the most unsuspecting, trusting souls.
One tentative step, then another,
into the silky strands.
She found not droplets of dew,
but a sticky, viscous, gooey mess,
the better to trap prey and she was it.

Try as she might, she could not free herself,
stuck, caught in the spider's web.
The harder she tried to escape,
the more entangled she became.
How could I be so gullible and naive,
easily deceived, she screamed.
Someone please help, release me from this web.

A lesson learned too late,
things are not always what they seem,
be discerning in life's choices,
and fairy tales don't always have a happy ending.

( gullible - gullable is also an accepted spelling)

*I think we've all made the mistake for taking things in the wrong context or seeing something as what it's not. Very true message. Nice wrok hun :) I enjoyed this. Nik*
