Notes from Within

Though I have eyes I cannot see
I hear only the sound of silence
and my words remain unspoken,
trapped within myself for eternity.

I have known the greatest of joys
yet endured the deepest sorrows
love and compassion disarm me
I am delicate and easy to destroy.

I am that which can only be given
the insincere attempt to steal me
and the cruel can break me in two
without me there is no point in living.
