Rose Deception

by Love Fallacy   Apr 13, 2010

The petal from a standing rose,
it gently hits the ground.
Love eludes both their hearts,
escape without a sound.

An innocent deception,
at first is what it seemed.
But secretly the petal lies,
an unconditioned deed.

The bearer of a complex task,
this rose has just begun.
The petal fell to save the stem,
now its sacrifice is done.

A flower once so beautiful,
with grace she'll perish fast.
The stem obtains a fracture,
her image will never last.

Her scent no longer lingers,
but her thorn still brings pain.
Something once so beautiful,
will never be the same.

I like the concept of this one. I think you may have meant 'perish', though. I know my poetry drones on, but I certainly prefer the 'less is more' approach, & this is easily metaphorical in its subject. Well done x
