You Can't Possibly Hurt Me

by Stephanie   May 15, 2010

You can't possibly hurt me
I was in pain so many times before
The pain became second nature,
And now my body is numb to the feeling

The pain glides off my skin
Like raindrops on a windowpane
There for a second,
Blink,
Gone the next
The little droplets left behind,
Will soon evaporate,
From the sun that's now peeking through my clouds

I was prepared
I studied your moves like schoolwork
You failed the tests I gave you
You didn't make the grade
It sank in that you are not the one,
But I didn't flunk completely

You can't possibly hurt me
I was in pain so many times before
The pain became second nature,
And now my body is numb to the feeling
