Haunted Hearts

by Sunshine   Jul 30, 2010

In my book there are old yellow
pages, with fading ink on

Unreadable letters,
and un-understandable words
there are old unfinished stories,
there are unwritten ones.
Lost dreams
broken hopes
corners where light
has never sneaked,
a sun that doesn't shine,
a moon that doesn't sleep.

Houses without doors
and doors with lost keys.

A princess, a crown of rust,
a prince made of air and dust.

My stories never end with
they lived happily ever after,
not with wine and a shallow laughter.

In my stories, life is a matter
of reality..
where hopes aren't trustable
to seek, where dreams are forbidden
and people are too scared too speak.

There are lost cities,
all abandoned and forgotten.
Blocked, empty streets
with black trees scattered all around.
The view clogged by thick fogs,
by noises that never ease.

In my book it doesn't matter
where you go, and what you do
for anywhere you go
where ever you look
you will find nothing beyond
your own reflection.

A city of love ghosts & their arts
city with stories printed on its walls,
about all the wars unwon,
and the battles outfought.
The haunted lost hearts,
and all the dreams-
unsought.

Awww... wow this poem is so deep and it really affected me... I love how this poem is about the opposite of fairytales and happy endings... It shows that there are sad realities that some people face in this world... It's the sad truth and you expressed it so beautifully..
I love your word choice and structure... The poem flows extremely well!

I love how you have captured the life of so many and placed it this way, in a book. Not only was the poem very well written (although sad) but the idea was also very creative. I really enjoyed reading this one from you.
