As He Passes Away

by Alexandra   Aug 24, 2010

As he passes away,
He holds his head high,
Even though he's shaking,
As he whispers goodbye.
There's nothing left to do,
Little left to say.
The doctor said earlier,
He may not make it through the day.
His family watches,
He looks so prepared.
But deep in his heart,
He really is scared.
The poor little girl,
So small and meek.
Looking so strong,
As she lets a tear leak.
"You are my angel",
She hears him say,
As he closes his eyes,
And passes away.

I have to say this is a very touching poem.

Heartbreaking and very emotional. I kept relating this poem to my own experiences which is why I feel connected to it.

It is well written and I think a wonderful poem.
