Darling,

It's 8:02 am. Cold and snowy. Winter is just not my season. It cools off my summertime. You are indifferent to my gelid mien. I suppose I thought you were composed of warm things; flame, sweat, seed, and trust, but you don't write anymore. I guess you could say, another dandelion falls limp beneath your London sky. Its draft embracing me, with more pierce than hug. I shiver. This couldn't possibly be fervor, yet I'm ablaze. In spite of the frost slumping these petals with defeat.

You always said, Never lend your vulnerability to a blizzard.

x

PS: In your absence
words come easy,
but you're more than prose.
Maybe.

I nominated this because it's a breath of fresh air. Cold, poignant and precise, it's got the kind of human imagery that I really adore in modern poetry. The persona also sounds very British in this...perhaps this is akin to the London reference or maybe you're reading a lot of English poetry (I'm not sure -- I personally prefer American poets)

'You are indifferent to my gelid mien.'

    Is this Dutch? Curious

'I suppose I thought you were composed of warm things; flame, sweat, seed, and trust'

this line seemed a little awkward and off-hand, though I liked the meanings behind the words themselves and what they represent; it was 'seed' and 'trust' that felt a little disquieting and out of tone. Just what the language was telling to me? You know the way it does?

'I guess you could say, another dandelion falls limp beneath your London sky. '

This was beautiful yet I'm nagged by the fact I thought 'Perhaps' would be a better replacement for 'I guess you could say' unless the latter has some outside significant meaning?

    'PS: In your absence
    words come easy,
    but you're more than prose.
    Maybe. '

And this ending is so you! 'More than Prose' Brilliant as always, Melissa.
