Never Together

by Stephanie   Jun 27, 2011

The sweet words that you say,
Don't speak them again,
They'll only bring tears to my eyes,
For they will remind me that we will never,
Be together

You're the only one who understands me,
The only man whos opened the door without a "why?"
You listened to me,
Took me in,
When you didn't even have to
Your acceptance is what makes me cry

What I can't accept is this distance,
Not only physical, but mental
You are everything I need,
But it's not what I want
This is the truth that even you can't hear
The truth I am forced to accept

Tell me,
When you are a marine and gone away,
Who will wash those fears of death and loneliness away?
How are you going to support me?
You, with the trouble you have been in,
How can you possibly get a decent career?
You can't just rely on the military
But most of all,
Is it fair?
Is it fair for you to put me in those kind of positions?
When I have worked so hard to earn a better life?

No, it's not fair,
And I deserve better
You may have the heart,
But that doesn't guarantee that you can play the part

So, I shall say it again,
The sweet words that you say,
Don't speak them again,
They'll only bring tears to my eyes,
For they will remind me that we will never,
Be together
