Regret

by Sunshine   Jul 10, 2011

I sit here in lament, my heart
burns faster than oil on fire
the more I hear the ticks
of the clock,
for time is running out
faster than wind all through
wintry hours of darkness.

I've hurt you, you're not there
Not anymore, and I
hold no reason to
wait by my window,
or outside my door;
you're not coming back.

And I am awfully sorry
that I believe I may spend
the rest of my life waiting
for your forgiveness, to be
served with a smile.
You'd ask me
Happy?
I'd nod with my head
but whisper..No

    "and I
    hold no reason to
    wait by my window,"

    So, so sad.

Love the first stanza, by the way, and the use of oil and fire. LOVED it.

The ending is so darn sad, Nana! Talking about wishing, wanting and waiting your whole life for an apology with a smile and know that it will never come. Words can't convey how this poem touched me..

Nana, this is too deep to describe. But wait, I can't believe that you hurt somebody, LOL. you're as kind and soft and delicious as a piece of cheesecake! :) besides, I loved your poem, and how you could portray your feelings in such a poetic way. I know this was simple and maybe not your best as you will tell me :P but I do believe that I could really relate to it, and it was one of my favorites ever written by you. :)

I was really taken away, when you said "lament" as if you are lamenting yourself not him, and how you were counting moments, fearing time and... it was just so sad.
there is just onething that I would change, "the ticks of the clock" I hate fillers, I don't know why, I'm m32de mnon, lol. So if you want, make it like this: "the ticks of clock" or maybe "of my clock"... :/

ps. (ya reto my heart w not urs) :P

I feel that "darkness" is such a poetic word, I love it, esp. when it comes along with winter or so, regret is so clear here. :)

    Forgiveness:
...Giving up all hope of a better past...
    And
    We also must
    Forgive ourselves..
