Without a Little Help From My Friends

by Kuro   Oct 17, 2011

"What would you do If I sang out of key?
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I will sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key."

I got stabbed in the back by my friends;
Forgotten and left for dead by my friends;
So I learned to get by without friends.

Eventually I learn not to sing at all.
They have stolen the song from my lips.
Deep in my heart I desire to sing,
But I'm afraid I've forgotten the words.

I got stabbed in the back by my friends;
Ignored and left for dead by my friends
So I'd rather go on without friends.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a darker version of the song WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS by THE BEATLES. words inside the "Quotations" are quotes from the original song.
edit: by "darker" i mean a perversion and corruption of something originally pure.
    Brilliant! I loved how you used a song to inspire you to write and to connect the song with your emotions. Music is a beautiful thing that can inspire us and sometimes bandage emotional wounds. Nice write.
    It is indeed very sad because we know friends who help but those we trust kill us makes it worse..a deeply touching write.
    It's always difficult to be able to start trusting again after a person who you thought was your friend wrongs you. :(
    A good poem, 5/5
    Sad or dark, matters not. For you are family.
    Dude if you sang out of key, I'd say welcome to the club :P
    This part is definitely sad. Friends depriving one of his essence and lust to sing.
    A brilliant composition. Penned. . =)
