No Longer Here

by believeinlove87   Dec 5, 2011

Look at you in that casket,
so cold, not moving a single bit,
gone from this world called earth,
no longer able to take a breath,
can't hear you say i love you one last time.

Grabbing your hand so carefully,
afraid to break it, running my finger
over your beautifully done Christmas nails,
thinking to myself
"This looks nothing like you mom,"
trying to fight back the tears I feel coming.

Feeling hands on my shoulders,
hearing " Are you okay sweetie?"
from my dad, eyes glossy from his tears,
i shake my head as the tears pour out saying
" This wasn't supposed to happen dad,
It isn't right. I need her more then anything."

Pulling me into a hug, trying to comfort me,
I can't keep my eyes off you, remembering
the way you look so vividly I could draw you perfectly,
running my hands through your hair, so badly
wanting this to be a horrible morbid nightmare.

As time comes to leave,
kissing your cheek with a final goodbye,
being the last out of the room,
I tell you " I'll never forget you mom,
I miss you more then you could imagine."

With one last kiss,
I had to say goodbye to my entire world.

"remembering the way you look so vividly I could draw you perfectly." I love that line from your poem the most because I know sometimes I remember seeing my father in the hospital bed and I can still vividly see him laying there... unable to move...or speak...or anything...
