The State Of Being "Fine"

by xoxShorteexox   Jan 13, 2012

Fine has so many different meanings
especially for every person that uses it
for me, it means that I'm lying about
my state of being and feeling.

I talk to him and I feel "fine,"
which for me, means I'm sick
to my stomach at the thought
of losing him at all or even a little.

If the state of being fine means that you're
drowning in pain and agony over another,
then most of us are fine all the time without
anyone else knowing that we're losing ourselves.

Darling, I'm on the floor once again
feeling "fine" with whatever we're supposed
to be to one another, but do you really know
what that means for me or you for that matter?

I really like the subject matter... I agree, I think most of the time when we say we're fine we're actually lying to people and ourselves... there's always something deeper we're feeling that we're too scared to talk about..

Your poem was really well-written! It actually reminded me of a poem I wrote called "I'm Fine." The subject is similar :)

That seems to have been penned from deep within your core. Well written about a confused and painful relationship. Shouldn't be that way.
