Worthless decoration

by Dark Secrets   Apr 6, 2012

Stillness kills curiosity,
yet fascinates the human mind
as the eyes dance into a trance
to run across those fine lines
and vector filled mazes
mimicking the glory of the human body
enhanced by nature's touch

Details drawn within
every curve and bend
... so smooth and sinuous

Contrasting colors collide
creating chaotic darkness and light
elongated, thick and thin

It continues to puzzle my mind,
and stares at me with a blank face
... I wonder what goes on in its mind
what knocks upon its consciousness?

It just stands there,
a mannequin on top of the table
forever enchanting...
when many saw it as a worthless
hunk of wood

Zahra that was pure creativity. At first I wasn't sure what you were talking about, then in the second read, I knew it was about mannequins. i like the beginning, where you said stillness kills curiosity (so true. The still body , in this case, it doesn't)= on contrary, the still body is intimidating to the human mind. i remember when i was a kid, at the front glass of clothes shops, I would stand puzzled, looking at those mannequins :P it was really weird.

And the most part that I liked was when you wanted to delve into the head of the mannequin, lol it felt a bitt odd, but I smiled..

    What an enchanting, original read!

This piece reminded me of when I was doing work experience in a clothes store and had to dress the mannequins, and I thought how boring and pointless it was, but they are carved with delicacy and stand there for a reason, to draw customers in by the clothes. This was a different sort of poem, very original.

    Liked it very much.
    Congrats in the contest xx
