Sleep

Sleep

You try to sleep,
But instead you weep.

A flood of regrets stabs from the inside
Outside the tears you can no longer hide
You were violently thrown off the ride

Tore apart at the steams
The trash is full of your dreams

The future is lost
Hope has been cost
You're burned by frost

You're followed in every thought
By the now so obvious ought

Looking forward to the bird's peep
You try to settle down to sleep
Your past you want to leap

Love is only for some
You wonder when sleep will come

You are overtaken by your most feared nightmare
As you lose the one whom you must care
Because of turning you lose the love you had to share

You linger in saddened thought
Realizing better you could have fought

You grasp for the return of the treasure
You are lost as feet stomp on what you know for sure
You miss the coziness of his sweater's fur

You achfully relive it in every darkened and venomed thought
Remembrance of pictures and flashbacks play as many tears are fought

He made you weep
He haunts your sleep
The mistakes you keep

You tossed a misleading dice
Now you pay the dreaded price

You reach out to grip "Don't Go"
Open your hands with nothing to show
And your pain again comes to grow

The dreams you built are crushed
All our hopes of mine brushed

You close your eyes
To forget about the lies
Did anyone hear your cries?
