The Willow Tree

by Tillra   May 11, 2012

On this day, I realize something of me.
I would have never imagined myself,
Writing in the shade of a willow tree.

Before this time of calm content,
I was raged and hateful,
And only wrote to vent.

Thought's that were hard to understand...
So I found relief,
Through paper by pen in hand.

Like before, I am here now
Scratching myself on a page,
But lacking my broken brow.

I sit shaded in content,
No tears or heart ache,
No hate to vent.

The past is done,
So now I write
For bliss and fun.

I chose to be
The man I am, now
Grateful, at ease and free.

It's like a dream made real,
All I had to do was embrace
The way that I feel...

And now at last I see,
My bright future growing
In all of its possibility.

With head on pillow,
I embrace peace and sing,
Under this beautiful willow,
Starts my new beginning.

Love this. The rhymes were soft and didn't seem forced as I used to read from others! I love how you wrote about yourself as a poet. How you described poetry, and all those things related to it, whether something sad or cheerful.

    'Scratching myself on a page'

This line is not leaving my head!
I just loved the way you said that. :)

The only thing I did not like was the lack of punctuation. A lot of poems I've read here lack punctuation, which makes the poem hard to understand. Though it didn't make it that hard with your poem, the flow was fast, because there was no punctuation. Use punctuation, that's the only advice I can give you, other than that, I love the imagery of this piece. This is relatable. A lot of people just starting to write poems find poetry as their outlet, but after some time, they find the beauty beneath words and create beautiful poetry. Great piece. Keep writing :)
