A lame man, a poem

A lame man, a poem *

There was a man named Mephibosheth, a strange name, he lived in a place called Lodebar where he had no fame.
Lodebar was a place of no pasture, therefore there was no bread, you know then he was not well fed.
Can you picture this poor soul, most likely living
in some stinky hole.
Who is this lame man you ask of me, come, follow
and you will see!
He was the son of Jonathon whose dad was Saul,
a King of old and mean, jealous of David when he
came on the scene. Saul was tormented by God and
put to the test, only David's sweet music soothed his
Soul and gave him rest. One day Saul was dethroned,
Jonathon went with him to their heavenly home.
King David grieving for the loss of his spiritual
brother Jonathon, sent for Mephibosheth to be with him.
The King told the man, at my own table we will eat together as one. I will be your Father and you will be my son. The Lame man bowed down low and said, who am I lord but a dead dog that has nothing to give. Yet you have shown me so much kindness that I might live.
In the word, through the fall, we all became lame,
not calling on his name. With God we no longer could walk. Crippled by sin within, no longer could we talk the talk!
But the Son of man came to seek and save the lost,
to his table he brought us, not without great cost.
Now our hearts he has won, we too like Mephibosheth
are his son. Eating at the Kings table is just fine, please someone pass the New Wine. We have eaten the bread from Heaven with no leaven. Thought that would get a rise out of all.

*I wish to encourage those who have read this my new poem to read the Bible story by which I based this poem. It can be found in the Old Testament, 2nd Samuel 9:1-13.

I consider it a Love Story between Jesus Christ and the sinners he calls to eat at his table. The Lord is still seeking the lost, to give them spiritual legs to walk, spiritual bread to eat.

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will not hunger, and he who believes in me will never thirst. John 6:35 NASB
