Winter Memories

by Mortal Utopia   Jun 9, 2012

Upon time, but only once,
On a snow-white winter's day,
I met a friend - someone who
Made me smile; someone who
I could render a smile.

On that cold, cold winter's day,
She laughed at my lame jokes,
Upon that moment in time,
I felt my clumsy speech admired.

I wonder where she is now,
I wonder, my reader, if you know her?
Perhaps I've walked passed her
Never knowing who she was
In this world neither big nor small,

Perhaps, this was all woven from
My imagination - just another fantasy:
That happy winter's day, was it but a dream?
This friend who I met once upon a time...

Who knows, but yet, who cares?
A friend is a friend; a smile, a smile -
Even if it's make-belief.

All we had in common was a single day,
A little junction in our confusing lives,
Perchance, we were no more than
Strangers - who met, talked and parted,
Without knowing one another's name,

But why do I remember you today?
Crystal-clear in this misty world?
Perchance, one day we will meet,
Never knowing we've met before,

Perhaps, my reader, you are that friend
From long ago - who I could render a smile.

^wonderful lines, perhaps, my favourite. These lines very well describes a True friend-someone whom everyone deserves. That's what a friend does. This poem surely goes to my favourite.:-)
    Good.
    Keep it up.

Wow, this is a really good poem. I am surprised that no one has noticed it before now. I am sorry to say this, but I am not your friend that you are talking about, nor do I know her... :D I thought I would just clear that up, even though you did render a smile from me :]

Anyway, I don't really see anything wrong with this poem. It is a beautiful one. I like how you included the reader by asking questions - it gave it a very realistic type of feeling. Made me feel like I was almost there with you while you were telling the story.
