October Rhymer

by Maple Tree   Jul 4, 2012

I despise the month of May
for maidens dance within the hay
the meadows are soft and sweetly gay
the fragrance of June is frightening.

A mockingbird cursed me, pooped on my head
cockroaches lurked, making love in my bed
I the fool to ignore this burdened dread
I called for a thunderous lightning.

If I were to speak of a month so true
it would be October, where full moons are blue
time for lovers to bond as two,
whispers of romance is heightening.

I usually shy away from the 'funny poems' section of this site, but I am so glad I read this :)
I love how you always manage to inject your pieces with a bit of nature here and there. The parts with the mockingbird and cockroaches made me smile.
    Brilliant. I love this piece!

Great! Nicely penned. I think we have to give a chance for cockroaches to make their own love but not on your bed, ha ha ha. provided, If you were to speak of a month so true it would be August (just joking my friend). I really enjoyed the reading. Thank you.
