Go figure

by Karla   Jul 10, 2012

The moment was kind,
an unexpected masterpiece
hanging on my iris, invading
my careless retina in the curves
of a hoarse morning; what is it?

My skin can remember
a silent instantaneous bliss
washing the hall and
the tired books on the desk;
a risk my heart couldn't
countenance. What is it?

My something dragged
its sleeves and climbed
the barbed-wire fence
around my body,
catching miracles,
perpetuating that now
as the seconds bent
their knees. What is it?

I felt it...I still feel it...

Now I want to know what it is! You did a great job of drawing in the reader and hooking them right off the bat. Each person can draw something different from this piece. I had the image of a person being captured by love and being overcome by this emotion without knowing what it is...but then again people usually know it is love when they feel it. The ending was just brilliant. It helped the poem linger with me longer after I was done reading it. This one is a sure winner.

Oh Karla I feel like I haven't read your pieces in ages, in fact I feel like I haven't read anyones in ages. Been busy so I am trying to catch up on the weekend reading poems that I have missed duing the week.

I simply love the images in this piece, you have a nack for describing things in a poetic way. What I love is the fact that this poem keeps me thinking because you never really tell us what it is that you have seen and felt which is awesome, it keeps us wondering.

Awesome write Karla, I loved it!!!

Put me in awe of this piece, I loved the structure of it and the ending lines of "what is it?" that grab the reader and make their imagination run. Lovely descriptions and mystery, a pleasant one, something that you may find in the middle of a day or right when you wake up that takes you by surprise, perhaps. :)

Very unique- thanks for sharing! Take care.
