Not Afraid

by LostWords   Sep 13, 2012

Lost in the dark walls are caving in.
Fear takes over, tears me down again.
Time keeps crawling,
unsure waiting.

Deep within myself, asleep it seems.
A noise so loud it deafens me.
Yet a still small voice is heard,
whispers calming words.

Run, not afraid of falling.
Leave your shattered mess.
Run, not afraid of falling.
Forget the bitter past.

Standing, stumbling on shaky legs.
Uncertain I am worthy of your grace.
Not so lost any more,
silhouettes of the familiar.

Barely moving but a steady pace.
So close yet so far away.
Darkness weakens,
I hear your voice again.

So I run, not afraid of falling.
Leaving the shattered mess.
I run, not afraid of falling.
Forgetting the bitter past.

I was reading your piece and thinking about a song.I loved the repetition here.

That is weird because it is actually a song that I wrote. Never could put it to the right music so I changed it and wrote it as a poem.
