Run Along

When I run along the shore,
I meditate about life and more.
Life is filled with many riddles
and questions, but instead of
panicking I try to find suggestions.

Wait for me before you
decide to catch the wind,
because I too want to run
along by your side.

And I, too, am scared
of my ashen eyes.
Don't leave me alone
for the dark
to take me by surprise.

For there are three words
that I've been dying to hear.
Alone in the dark
with you by my side.
Waiting for you
to say those three words.

Words you wouldn't guess
not "I love you" or
"you're the best" but
something more, something deep
just our words for us to keep.

The marigold sun peaks
across the mountain of hope,
you wait for even the slightest breeze
so you can fly until tomorrow ends.
I wait with you,
praying you will whisper envied words -
"Run with me."

And we shall teach these words
to our future children
The ones that were conceived
after an exhausting run we had
through the fields covered in sunlight

Through the fields covered with moonlight
Through the fields of everlasting love
We shall see the future in our kids
in us, in you and in me.

Running along.

Until clouds no longer mourn,
and poetry lights up our souls
once more, and when kites -
when kites begin to carry our
dreams and reason again.

Whisking away into the unknown
creating our own story;
where impossible is illogical
and boulders once barricading us
are now pebbles we'll step over
as we continue to run along.
