Mentioned in my diary, long ago

by Khalid M Darwish   Oct 28, 2012

My home land!
I still remember you
and your pastures
full with Laurel trees
your gardens
which smell the scent of jasmine
and your palaces and towers

I still remember, when I was young,
my memories with Barada river
that old river
where I lost my shoes
swallowed by its water stream.
the times I swam and riddled, uncountable
From its sweetness I drank.

There, I've learnt so simple basics:
To live simply
To love generously
To care deeply
To speak kindly
To leave the rest with Allah
May he save me and them

Thanks Andrea, that's more than I deserve. You can't imagine how much the Baradah river in Damascus means to me. For centuries it's been used then exhausted untill it's water becomes decreasing while my tears increasing. Thank you Andrea for support. It means a lot to me.
