Franken Scattered

by Maple Tree   Oct 28, 2012

I am the night sky that can be heard
in a dark tunnel of a past that haunts
my whimsical spirit, I hear the aged,
they call me to another vision of life.

I can be emotional when tormented
with things I myself can't fathom
to understand, daily I scurry around
another idea or thought, exhausted.

Wishing for the trees to whisper,
it's time to rest these weary bones,
another day of dawn becomes
ritualistic, repetition begins, again.

Not enough fingers on my puffy palms,
to count all the times I cringe at even
my own ideas, sometimes the odd
becomes embarrassing to swallow.

Here I sit pouring out another heartfelt
timeline, of another day in the life of
a rejected old fool, who wishes to be
swept away within violent winds of change.

I have a hurricane spinning in my own mind,
wishing it would take me away forever.

"At first glance I was unsure if it was the recent hurricane that inspired this, after seeing other comments I see I am not the only one that thought this. I found that I enjoyed how the author is able to use something so tragic to create such an emotional and moving piece of writing, and I did like the sublte alliteration of puffy palms.

Whilst I enjoyed the thought of a hurriane in ones mind, I'm not too keen on the closing line, I just felt that it wasn't as emotional as the rest of the piece as I found it to border on cliche the way the author phrased his/her thoughts here.
That was the only line I wasn't sure about in this poem, and I think the author did a lovely job at expressing their thoughts throughout this.

Again, I applaud how something so sad can create such a beautiful piece of writing"
