To The Loveless

by The Queen   Feb 18, 2013

Have you ever felt like an orphaned
seabird drowning in trawl nets,
or a wounded clownfish
incompetent to row
its fins?

Perhaps, one of those
feathered delinquents,
scattered about
on sidewalks, and
across neighborhood
lawns,

as though in quest; trapped
between time, and
a lover's ghost?

At times you felt like a captor
of freedom, with a swelling chest
and self-induced pride,
like an extrovert,
yet, a better person
on their own.

But, you know it too well,
losing isn't really a hard art
to master, and
behind that masquerade
is a hinder gameplay
that neither you could win,
nor escape.

But know that with every tear shed
you were never alone,
yes, you never
were alone.

For, friendship is born
at the moment, when
one person says to another,

"What? You too?
I thought I was the only one."

Like you, I've been alone too long,
So Darling, pick up your cross,
for, you are well-worth the voyage
I am willing to jump
aboard.
