Artificiality

by The Queen   Feb 18, 2013

I maybe self-centered, but that's because
you are too troubled to speak, too chocked up
by the overflowing secrets that you keep,
secrets that make you sick.

Yes, I may be crazy, but please,
feel free to wear that label
on your sleeve,

shallow
superficial, and
a sham,

it's about time to let you know,
my outfits you're trying to copy
do not even suit your tan.

You call me, your friend
while you're too busy
feeding a reputation

of a strumpet,
of a traitor who rebels
against themselves.

So, don't you ever,
call me, "friend".

Don't.

This is actually quite sad. They always say copying is the biggest flattery or however that dumb saying goes, but I disagree. So many people try to be unique, but they don't realize they're just trying to be like someone else.

    "too chocked up"

    chocked = choked?

I love the bit about a traitor who rebels against themselves. You always find ways to put things just so interesting!

): This is heartbreaking, mainly because of the thought that it happens all the time to people.

I know I've had my share of this "friends", most of which got close enough to do a lot of damage before I realized that I was in this situation or being used. I feel your pain.

On a brighter note, I've found that these people are the people that make us who we are. They make us better, stronger people and give us wisdom in some ways. I am sorry that someone hurt you, though it made for a very well written poem. I also like the form.
