A poem for Mamma

by Someone Invisible   Mar 31, 2013

She is a woman that laughs in public and cries in the solitude of her walls. Stands straight for those around her and gives without asking for more. Her kids are her world with no one to be her rock. Protects and looks after me and my brother not realizing even she needs someone to watch over her. Taxes herself without mercy and tries not to complain, but to those who know her best know she's not without pain. Trying to better herself and the lives or those she cares for, and still people strike out at her as if she has done more to be blamed.

Please stop it I say,
what more has she to pay?
Don't go digging in her dirt,
'cause all you cause is hurt.
Me, myself, her daughter,
won't be much without her.
So stop all the treachery,
and just leave all of us be.
To us me and my brother,
the only thing that matters.....
Is Our Mother.
