The Anguish of Daybreak.

by Poet on the Piano   Jul 1, 2013

I want to carry her with me,

into the soft-spoken night where fears
are caught in mirrors and the moon
seems to keep circling
around us.

But I don't move her,
I let her rest upon the wooden boat
that leads her to my dungeon,
not even awakening her to let her know
this is our last moment
before time will age us.

And I don't know who I'll be
in the hours to come,
but an ignorant sun will strike
our eyes and my mask will
find my face
until woe consumes me...

and there is not even a goodbye
I can move toward her.

But let me have this one second.
Let me pledge my love for it isn't
a want to love, I have had that
yearning before and I finally
know what this is.

So I move my graceless lips
toward her still, porcelain cheek,
fragile and statuary with dreams,
and leave her
with anything but silence...

"My love, I am more than darkness.
I am also light, and I can be
seen in both, just ask for my

music."

I think this is my third or so Phantom of the Opera tribute write! This time I took first perspective of Erik....I'm listening to this pianist Philip Wesley who plays so beautifully, and this one song I have on repeat: "Light and Shadow" is inspiring in countless ways.
