Questionnaire

by Saerelune   Jul 24, 2013

Would you love me for the hedgehog-bun I make
out of my hair on Sunday mornings?
Would you love the way vacuuming
bread crumbs on a Saturday noon seems to
aim the sun on my more-than-broad, past-
packed shoulders? Or would you
love me as you see my sister's
big, round eyes through me,
just because she's the kind of girl
that clamps herself around you
on Friday nights, when monsters like me
seem to crawl out of the television screen?

Answer me again when you're not in love
with a stranger.

Read this poem this morning and couldn't find the words to comment but I'll try now! All I can really say is I found this poem to have a depth of sadness and despair because this person isn't loving you for everything you are... everything you are composed of. I loved reading the opening images of the little things you do, the way you look waking up, things you enjoy, all the simple parts of life. And even if you are a mess or don't know when making a choice, there will be unity... I think Britt wrote it perfectly with the thoughts of "if that love is genuine". So thoughtful with those few lines and it's truly truly powerful. Take care!

(And yes, more people to read this & read more of your poetry, I'm in total agreement there lol)

You're just a little writing machine and I am in love with every single word you pen.

This is such a sad piece... I love the beginning, made me think of marriage and/or living together -- will you still love me when you see me at my worst? Of course they usually do, if that love is genuine. But here you question if it's genuine or not. It's like this person loves you, but perhaps you feel they love someone they think they see in you, or someone closer to you.. like you're the gateway to that other woman.

I love your ending, you have a way with them. It's really a beautiful piece. Nominated! :)
