Growth

I slumbered in gallows
where swampy silhouettes
paraded nightly in dreams,
I sunk myself into a selfish sorrow
reciting hollow verses until
my lungs split at their seams.

Your song was nursed
in my doorway occasionally,
although forbidden to ever enter;
Your heart was an oak
rooted outside my bedroom window
I feared time would simply splinter.

Patiently you made
an intravenous entrance
through the void between my ribs,
becoming the song
I always knew to sing but instead
would bite my lips.

Your enchantment is
a posionous clarity
infecting all parts of my manic mind,
Where two souls illuminate
the edge of an abyss
true love could only find.

This is such a refreshing love poem to read. It has that magical, sensual, sweet touch to it. Such a soft tone, really endearing voice. To feel this kind of love, a love that changes us, is really hard to describe and I feel you have done that really effortlessly. This is a beautiful poem and I am wrapped in its sweetness.

    Lovely write.
