Brilliance Is Your Shadow

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Dec 10, 2013

As the
fireworks explode
in the air,
I think of
your brilliance
and how
crumpled papers
can't accept
my emotions.

I still
do not know
the reason
why I
met you.
And in times
like this,
I just want
to forget
the problems
beset in me
and just
treasure the
greatest feeling
of lying down
in a prarie
that houses
starlit butterflies.

There's nothing
wrong with
loving a star.
You are
from a universe
I will
not know,
where a supernova
exploded a
thousand years ago.
But the
explosion has
just reached
the Earth
right now...
just right now...

It is hard
to give
myself courage,
but you
always believe
in me.
A lost firefly
is my
lost bravery.

Everyone has
their own
brilliance...
but your shadow
is the
brightest shine
for me.

Ah, this reminds me of a couple of poems I wrote a long time ago. Sweet memories. Specially the universe and the supernova.

and If I continue, I would probably just ramble but I like the part that goes something like :

    there's nothing wrong
    with loving a star.

I also like the tone in your poem, I can't put it in words but I read it calm. and you have a voice that sounds familiar.

    I enjoyed this piece.

The first stanza has an image of the writer trying to find those right words to capture his true feelings of a beauty. I really liked the line "crumpled papers can't accept my emotions"

The second stanza draws a lovely picture where you can truly find your peace leaving behind the worries of the world. I can see those starlit butterflies..lovely pic!

    Everyone has
    their own
    brilliance...
    but your shadow
    is the
    brightest shine
    for me.

^^I like this ending statement. So true each one has their own brilliance, and inspiration in one form or the other. Whether it is dim or bright, big or small we each have a star that makes us smile..nicely penned.
