Astral Bull

by JaneDoeWrites   Jan 3, 2014

Matador,
my horns
wish to scrape the poems
from the roof of your mouth-
the scent of your fear
tugging at my bull ring
like an old, familiar door knock.

You've sent me
chasing trails of red
before each ghostly wave of the flag,
knowing my heart always charged
beyond the boundaries of my body.

Matador,
may you pull
the arrows from my spine;
you've made a sport
of evading my love.

First of all, thank you for joining my challenge and rocking out this beautiful piece of poetry and congrats
on the win of the challenge! I love how you turned your horoscope into this, really creative! The metaphor of you being the bull
and your lover, the Matador, is really captivating. The imagery is absolutely flawless and so unique. I love the
image of horns scraping poetry off the roof of their mouth! and how the bull ring looks like a door knock! Just
can't express how jealous I am that you thought of that first, haha.

From what I gather for the whole interpretation of this poem is it's a relationship that is slowly dwindling
or maybe one that hasn't even started yet due to the games and uncertainty. They
love the chase and to play games while you just would like them to quit teasing you, quit trying to make your
angry and just settle down and let you love them. You keep trying so hard to catch them, you get so close to them,
only for them to pull away at the last second and it begins all over again.

    Lovely write!

This poem really made me smile because it's quite unique. I am not completely sure what it's about but going from the title (the word astral) maybe a zodiac sign of the bull? I am not sure what month. But for the poem itself I loved it. You did such a clever job with using the matador in a different way. I think you are using yourself as the bull and your wording is great. You are saying instead of attack them that they can work together. I loved how you used this as your muse. Overall very great wording and metaphor and it kept my attention the whole time. :)

It was for a astrology challenge- my zodiac sign is the taurus (bull) and the month I was born it was May so I incorporated that as well (:
