The stars

by Courtney Hough   Jan 9, 2014

The stars are friends,
Beautiful dear friends of mine.
Because every time I see them,
Painted pictures come to mind.
Every beautiful moment,
The beginning of our prime.

The night you asked to be one,
And we finally came to be.
Living in our moments,
Not worrying about the soon absentee.
The night we danced,
And first you said you love me.

Walking around the city,
Dressed so gorgeous you and I.
My handsome Marine,
No other I wish to abide by.
The city almost sleeping,
But tonight, together, we're alive.

These stars have watched over us,
As we walk under them every night.
Saying our sweet dreams,
Staring into eyes so bright.
Dancing in the street,
You bring the dark in me to light.

So when your away look up,
Send those stars my direction.
You'll be under them first,
But I want to be under the same heaven.
Those stars are bonding for me,
Making me feel a connection.

The heavens smile down,
On the most star filled of nights.
The brightest smile they can,
When they see our beautiful sight.
I will wait under the heaven for now,
Until I can hold you close and tight.

Stars are my comfort,
They're your eyes while you're away.
Although their beauty to you doesn't compare,
They will do for tonight and today.
As we look at them still together,
No matter how far away.

There's no greater honor,
Then knowing I belong to you.
You've brought out the best in me,
A part that would rarely shine through.
You've taught me so much and believed in me,
Now I can finally begin to anew.

You bring me light,
As the stars do to the night.
You give me faith and courage,
To stand firm in what's right.
All I ask that you join me in looking up,
remembering us tonight.
