Live on

by Joshua Reimer   Jan 10, 2014

I never understood, why life's path has to turn. Like a child in a vehicle seeing Disney land pass by, only to realize that wasn't the destination. I never took the time to notice that it doesn't take a billion dollar destination to find gold. After all, happiness is worth more than everything one could own.

See I've been thinking I knew it all. Taking everything for granted, and granted if I would've took the time I could've seen what you see eye to eye and now... all I know is a another angel fell. Fell like a judges Gavel in all of our hearts, before the judge of our fate ripped us apart. It can be harder for some but the same sound in these halls, the same silence held in these walls echoes amongst us all.

I regret that I didn't spend each moment the way I should have. I regret that I knew it all. And now... now not much can be said. So I speak emotions, not from fear of the dead, but for the ones that we love. Live on as I speak now through the voice of a son who reached for his faith in the hand of a mom, who took hold of love like innocence in a child, who's been lost in a world full of hatred for a while.... Regret sits behind these words like a flightless bird. Since I'm not sure... if you can hear my words. Don't get me wrong...

I don't regret because you've found peace, but because of the memories, and the mother I knew you could've been. Few people in a world of pain can rise to make change, and those who wanted more got all the love you could hold. Passing out advice like it's a bridge for their holes. As selfless as the sun you gave life, keeping your love alive as though you knew the world would change... you live on like a phoenix who disregards flame. Reaching out through these plains as though even god has no say, you live on!

Live on like an angel to watch over us all. So gaze down and lend us your love, show us the way when we find ourselves lost. Reach to the sun and you'll feel her love, she will live on! I never understood why life's path has to turn.... the way the road leads takes us to somewhere we haven't seen. And despite every effort it's always a surprise, when I see something that looks a little like you in the smile of our daughter. I don't see you but I see your soul, entrenched into the genetics and what makes her smile whole. I could say that your gone, but you will always live on.
