The Hug

by kitten   Dec 3, 2014

Get into your soul.
Let it dance you in.
Shakin' its hips and flowing.
Light your eyes with sparks, and sing your tongue's delight.
Felt from within.
Arms of embracing.
Unconditional power and otherworldly love.
You have been hugged.

Love Mom

This is short piece that said everything, so honest and full of emotions. It was nice to read your poetry and looking forward to read more.

    Judging Comment:

This is a short piece that captures the heart of everyone that reads it. It is simple and truly in the spirit of being a mother. The way she described a hug so purely and so detailed in a beautiful use of words is wonderful. There is an image of this moment of how pure and stunning a hug can be and just how much something so simple can mean to someone you love. The style of this piece is unique and phenomenally done. it leaves an impact that most pieces are not able to. There is a sense of self in this piece, despite being dedicated to her children, that really shines and adds personality to this and makes it that much more of a delight to read.

Firstly, I adore the title of your poem. It is a lovely title and feels quite comforting before you even read the poem.

I like the shortness of the poem, and your word choice of " getting in your soul to dance" that idea was unique and beautiful.

Your poem is touching, and one of those things I think should be entered onto a greetings card.

    Nice work.

Love the idea of "getting into" one's soul, connecting and listening more to its call. Third line, I don't think "it's" should have the apostrophe in it?

Great, encouraging write and I like your choice of words and the "spark" this poem has. Certainly a hug can say more than we may ever know...
