Fabled Vertigo

by Meme   Feb 21, 2015

You never came and
I never dreamed, just
like you were never real
and I was never there,
like there is no fairytale
and there is no ever after.

As if your magic tricks
failed, and instead of
making our hands touch
for the first time you made
our legs disappear, so what
is the point if we can't reach?

I remember writing a spell,
maybe the stars would line
and I would be able to trace
the outlines of your face. But
it was sunny, and I was tired
and your tricks failed again.

Maybe today you could
light your cigarette, and I
would -as if always- come
to life in your imagination.
And maybe I would sing
a lullaby, and surrender to
the dreamer within me....

....perhaps this time our
hands would touch.
