The Bonfire Of Our Love

by cassie hughes   Aug 5, 2015

I see the branches sway
and watch the butterflies
mad dance atop the hedge.
I frown as darkened pillows
rush across to hide the
sun, then water flowers faded
by it's light.
I feel the airs caress turn
into tempest as the wind
attempts to blow the
dreams of life away,
But can not hear the
screaming of my heart
as you abandon all
pretence and fold
another in your arms.
Is this the ending of the world
I sense as darkness swallows
all within its bare embrace?
Nay, just the final throes of
what could never be
turning to ash amidst
the bonfire of our love.

    I love poems like this!

    Beautifull imagery and description
5/5 just for the use of the word "Nay"

Seriously though, an amazing poem. I got the impression of events flying by lifting you off your feet (in the bad way) and you not wanting it to end.
