A Flicker of Hope

by Mark Rawlins   Aug 7, 2015

A flicker of hope from the depths of despair,
A whispering voice finally being heard
In a world full of greed, where nothing is fair.
The spluttering truth's coming up for the air
That suddenly seems not to be so absurd;
A flicker of hope from the depths of despair?
An unlikely saviour with grey beard and hair,
Who even himself doesn't see what he's stirred
In a world full of greed, where nothing is fair.
The old, the young, the weak and poor can just dare
To hope for a future, to hang on a word .....
A flicker of hope from the depths of despair.
Whilst the doubters and cynics sneer, scoff and swear,
Our own 'terrible beauty' may have occurred,
In a world full of greed, where nothing is fair.
A rare opportunity's waiting right there,
So shout out the message and help spread the word:
There's a flicker of hope from the depths of despair
In a world full of greed, where nothing is fair.
