Mama's baby

by Brenda   Apr 7, 2016

I am Mama's baby
her best one
she likes to say-
youngest by default
would have been
a middle-ling
if my youngest sister
had reached fruition-
Mama's quiet baby,
Mama's happy baby,
not like my brother-
"he was just cross"
my Mom liked to say-
not bossy
as my sister was-
being the oldest
they just seem to be that way-
she was almost
a middle-ling
too
oldest sister apparently
wasn't part of
God's plan either-
no wonder my brother
was cross
stuck between all girls-
I was born under
the sign of water
happy with the solitude
the oceans bring
still Mama's quiet one,
still Mama's happy one...

Em, Thank you so much! It just came to me, my Mom was in the hospital and she was weighing heavy on my mind. It's crazy to think what comes to your mind when you are stressing out. She's out now and doing great! Take care-Brenda

    Brenda,

Each of your writes get better and better, although I have to be honest, they are never easy to read.
I know a little about what you have suffered from reading your poetry, and all I can say is that it's a true testament to you that you have been able to come through it all and calve a life out for yourself filled with love. But also, that you can express yourself so well.

    Take care and stay well,
    Ben

Ben, thank you so much! Writing is such a catharsis for me. I appreciate your honesty on them not being easy reads-sometimes I have a hard time getting stuff out. So many people have been through horrific situations in their life, me just an ordinary joe just trying to tell my story. I have been extremely blessed with being able to go through the fire and come out standing. Thank you again-your words and comments really mean a lot to me. Take care-Brenda
