I'm 58

Today I'm fifty-eight...
Yippee, hurray
what?
wait....
Fifty-eight!!!!
Is that right?
Did those years
fly by last night?
Wasn't I just
forty-eight?
My hair now has
more Grey than brown,
I think I've shrunk
a bit
which puts me
closer to the ground...
But my mind
is still sound-
well, I think it is-
the voices
in my head
assure me this is so...
So there you go!
I don't feel
middle-aged-
but according to science
I've passed that by too!
I have children
that are grown-
my wild oats
have been sown-
not quite ready
to go quietly
into the night...
I still love fast cars
heavy metal
driving through the night
music blaring
gazing at stars...
I love to wander
and wonder the world
so much to learn
I yearn
for more time...
I feel at fifty- eight
I've only
begun to live-
So yippee, so hurray!
It really is
my birth day today!

      Oh don't apologize Ben! It was written tongue in cheek. I plan on raging all the way. Btw, the group Rage Against The Machine was supposed to tour last year and Covid canceled all that, bah! I'm glad it made you laugh...I did check my email! Thank you!!!!

    Very nice. Light hearted and funny. A very pleasant and enjoyable read. I could relate to most lines, but especially loved, “closer to the ground”. With each passing year I realize gravity is not my friend. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you so much! Yeah, my kids think it's funny I've shrunk some. Gravity is definitely not our friend lol.
