Cloud Gazing

by ether   Jul 11, 2016

The clouds are running a marathon
in my mind, in the sky.
breaking the invisible ribbon:
the ground between you and i.

i love you now,
and it doesn't matter.
i love you still,
but it doesn't matter.

i held onto those words,
too unsure for my own good.
listening to some sad songs,
too scared to sing along.
and you couldn't understand why;
you wouldn't understand why.

the clouds change shape,
and dump their contents;
my eyes change colour,
and dump their contents.

your sunny smile
cleared the condensation.
and with a worried breath,
you asked me why.

well, sometimes there is no reason,
only a swift collapse of clarity.
every word has a meaning -
sometimes i struggle to remember mine.

but you bought the calm
to the storm's eye.
you always made it easy
even at goodbye.

    This is just too beautifully written. It touched my heart with its sadness.

    This is so beautiful-even saying good-bye and your heart breaking was so eloquently put. I love the clouds and how you interwove all of it together. Really nice!

    Ether, this is beautifully written. I like the rhyming and some words are hard to understand (why they were said) but the easiest words to say are always the most difficult to understand.
