Goodness

by Mark Rawlins   Aug 2, 2016

You're delicious,
yet nutritious.
You are goodness
through and through.
You're so wholesome,
I'm suspicious
that you're too good
to be true.

You're all the nutrients
that I need.
You are my
five-a-day.
You're soya bean,
sesame seed,
you are my
curds and whey.

Are you just
a crunchy carrot?
Or a creamy
milky bar?
Are you Holland?
Are you Barrett?
or as sweet
as Rum Baba?

You're delicious,
yet nutritious.
You are goodness
through and through.
You're so wholesome,
I'm suspicious
that you're too good
to be true.

Where's your sugar-
covered coating?
Where's your filling?
Where's your cream?
Where's the temptation
you float in?
Where's your self-
indulgent dream?

What's the flavour
that you savour?
What's the seasoning
and spice?
What's the decadence
you crave for?
Is it naughty?
Is it nice?

You're delicious,
yet nutritious.
You are goodness
through and through.
You're so wholesome,
I'm suspicious
that you're too good
to be true.

Mark - what a great and fun little piece of poetry this is, rhymed beautifully and a real pleasure to read.
    Great work,
