Ten years

Hard to believe
ten years have passed,
already-
A chance meeting
on an on-line dating site
set the wheels
in motion-
Both of us,
road warriors of bad relationships,
eternal optimists,
we two must be,
to get back on that wobbly bike-
Three weeks in,
you told me of your heart condition.
Let me know,
I could walk away.
No hard feelings.
I couldn't have walked away
from you,
not then, not now.
We've met those challenges
when they came,
we'll meet them again
when they come back-
I will be your heartbeat,
when yours can't.
I will gladly be your shoulder
to lean on,
when you need one-
I just look at you
and I know everything
is right
in my world-
My life jump started,
ten years ago,
it has been
the most amazing ride
on that wobbly bike
we call love-

    Thank you everyone! He is my everything! I tease him that I have a 40 year lease with options to renew, so he's never getting rid of me! We celebrate when we first met in person and when we actually got married. We will be married 7 years in October. I feel incredibly blessed to share his life. I feel like this is what happens when all the planets align and it's all right with the world.

    A lovely read and a great poem. This cheered me up immensely and is a great showpiece for the value of perseverance where love is concerned.
    I love the metaphor of love being a 'wobbly bike' - great stuff and so true!
