On Driftwood Sands

by NightFlyer   Jan 2, 2017

I recall now the colored shells
Strewn cross the beach of Sanibel
Beneath the golden Moon above
That glowed as bright as our new love.

The sea, it called us from our room
And drew us to that mystic Moon
On driftwood sands, we walked and saw
The magic of the midnight shore.

We laughed and shared our poems that night
Two spirits on a wild flight
To find our dreams by this seascape
And from the world, our sweet escape.

But years have passed, you're dead and gone
My poetess, for you I mourn
That magic's left the swirling tide
And ocean's filled with tears I've cried.

The Moon that shined on sand and rocks
Now sadly looks on paths we walked
I dream of you and then beseech
We'll meet again upon that beach.

This is a very sentimental write for it holds much more for you then what the readers read. I like the flow and the way your feelings unfold with memories and then just like that without even saying sadness is floating there waiting to be known...nicely penned my friend.

    Congrats on the Win

I really thought I had commented on this but obviously not. It was superbly done with fabulous rhyming and a beautifully written yet sad story.

    Well done on the win.
