A man’s word is his bond (English Sonnet)

by Mr. Darcy   Jan 30, 2017

.

Siberia whispered a frosty kiss
Across a weary land of painted hearts.
His breath removed the warmth that people missed,
Extinguishing their songs before they’d start.
How could a sun reveal its face again;
When clouds of frost extend from east to west?
Will psalms rejoice beneath an April rain,
Or will they die beneath their maker’s quest?
Before the Spring a Winter needs to be
A white canvas, a sheet that can be sown.
Winter seems bleak, but surely we will see,
That soon those seeds will breathe and start to grow?
: : Beneath a frosty crust a promise sworn,
: : A multitude of daffodils are born.

I liked this piece Michael. Great imagery as always in all your work. I felt I was out there in Siberia!
    Impressive as always.

Micheal me old bean.....this is such an awesome write, I love how you write in this form, all the blah blah's are there, word choice, format, imagery etc is spot on, but I find that when this is read out aloud it really does take on another form, I always read everything at least twice, once to myself and then out loud and I find that poems I love the most tend to resonate when read aloud. This one did, love it.

Mr D, I know we spoke about this so I have some incline as to what the content is about but I will give you my interpretation anyway, wrong or not lol. Again, I like the arty part and the line separations.

1/ I love the imagery here of Siberia's kiss being so frosty that it removed the warmth people felt and I had to look up Siberian weather and currently it's -15 and I thought it was bad enough here... Anyway I think this is about the sites changes being cold now but taking away our artistic spirit because we need time to readjust but that time will be here soon. Very powerful.

2/ The sun will always shine even in the safest of times and we'll soon see the sun again when the changes have been finalised resulting in there being no going back. Soon you will here the happy crowds coming back slowly realising that all this was needed and they need to get used to it, though it'll take time.

3/ The imagery here is beautiful almost serene and I imagine this blanket or snow that helps the world come to terms with what's to come, the changes that have been made and once footprint's have been made by one person then others will follow because thats the way of the world. Yes, the seeds will grow and get out of there bleakness.

Couplet/ I loved this m, it seems to just slip off the tongue when read aloud. Hopefully, more daffodils will be born within this site.

    Great job, Em

Yeah... pnq seems to have gotten cold. We see the white snowy canvas and a few dare to leave their footprints on it. They rather stay in the warmth of their home, at least that's what it seems.
Who knows? There might be a lot of footprints out there and I haven't realize it. Lol

May be this one isn't about pnq... but that's what came to mind.
