Dark Knight

by CJ Maleney   Mar 6, 2017

Not a knight in shinny armour,
Just a piece upon a board.
No sleek and shiny sword,
No army with which to hoard.

No shield with which to defend yourself,
But you still fight in the war.
A casualtie a victim!
Essentially just a pawn!

A victim or a hero?
In this you have no choice.
Pieces moved as lines are drawn,
You don't even have a voice.

But knight you are!

Not made of wood or gold,
You have seen the fight,
You have seen the war,
Your story left untold.

Blood and sweat,
Tears and pain,
The things that they cannot know,
The feeling of alone even when you are home.

A polished knight stained to dark!
Placed into a square,
But the fingers that control you!
Would shrink behind their fear.
