Animal

by CJ Maleney   Mar 9, 2017

You can not hold it down
You do not have the strength
You can try with all your might
It will fight till its last breath

know that you can not bind it
And you can't control the beast
The collar slipped, the leash bit though
The animal has teeth

You can't put it into a pen
Never locked into a cage
It will sit there watching silently
And then unleash it's rage

It's not part of a circus
Not part of someone's show
An animal born to be free
It's destiny unknown

Round your neck you wear that chocker
Adorned by one of its teeth
You can hurt and you can wound it
But you will not cage the beast.

You hold your spear and you flash that knife
You swoop and swing your net
But the beast will not be taken
It would rather accept death
