An appetite for hope

by Michael   Mar 12, 2017

Menacing whispers, come to haunt.
My mind emits a dark silhouette
I feel vulnerable, while in thought
A shadow casts an inevitable threat.

This presence, which lies in wait,
Preys upon my, internal delicacy.
Tempting me, with its ravish bait,
Breadcrumbs of an odious legacy

I will consume its piteous offering
And discrete richness from its sour
Slowly digest the goodness of learning
The lewd darkness will starve and cower

I will fight for my yearning desire
The ailing will slowly diminish
My spirit will lift to what I aspire
My heart will battle to the finish.

This is a very powerful write indeed! I found myself reading it out loud and, although not shouting the words, I was definitely reading it with an indignant tone in my voice.

    Just wondering about this line...

And discrete richness from its sour

    ^^^ should it be sewer?

This is the first of you poems I've read and I really enjoyed it.

Thank you Hellon for your comments.
.The line you refer to is separating the sourness from something and take richness of lesson learned/learning :)
