Fear of the dark

by CJ Maleney   Mar 14, 2017

I hate the night, not the fading light, not the dusk.
The total night, the total absence of light.
Lights off, eyes squeezed shut
Visions and thoughts swimming
Never fearing the dark itself, but with it what is coming.

Ideas of what was and what could be
Perversions? Dreams? realities?
Aspirations, obstacles, the path and the route
What's in my way what action will suit.

So In the dark I lay awake, the day forgot
Subconscious alive,
Things pushed aside, begin to thrive
The darkness comes and welcomes you
The things you think when "your not you"

In every day, order, control
Where will you be in darks enfold
The twisted dreams come out to play
Segments linger the following day.

Rise, Work, Eat, Rest, Sleep
But then comes the dark
The dreams they creep.
Who the hell am I? What the hell am I ?
Nothing!
Just me I think! Or am I? The darkness brings me something

So I exist within the night
Somewhere between darkness and light,
The fallow ground between folly and plight.
With the souls waiting to find their fate

Do I rise ,
Plummet
Or simply sleep.
The darkness and light a fight to seek the weak

So in the dark I search, fingers outstretched,
Brain fighting the fight
Probing seeking to find my way.
Brain knowing "the heart seeks light"

The darkness will fail the sun will rise
You will stand, wash, shave and rub your eyes.
The darkness fought and it's oh so true
It failed again.
"REMEMBER YOU"
