Pursuit of Love Within (Acrostic)

by Michael   Mar 29, 2017

Pursuing my quest, to love myself.
Unchaining, shackles which weigh me down
Replenish wounds from repetitive patterns.
Scars of sacrifices, I will always bear.
Unpleasant tastes, I will dilute.
Impish whispers haunt my mind.
Thrashing at my soul.

Open up my eminent strength.
Face my fears which hound my mind

Lavish in their failing…wailing, weep!
Oh! And weep they will!
Veer my soul from evocative ways
Empower myself.....to love myself.

Wallow in victory, bathe in joy.
Inner emotions, a potent watershed
Trickles of purity, wet my lips.
Habits will rot of starvation!
I will strive, to honour my oath
"No!" A verbal word, I will forebode!

Michael, I loved this and many people can take heed to it, me included.

1/ This is a fantastic opening. One of those that pulls you in and grips you making you want more until there's no more left so having to read it again and again (which I have) and then you find something else about it that you love. Yes, we should all love ourselves but there is always something that we don't like whether it be shyness, a scar we have or something more we all need to give ourselves a talking to and realise (as Lady gaga sings) we were born that way and are all different and one day someone will fall in love with us, warts an all so why can't we love ourselves?? We all have things that weigh us down, like the past and things that will help us within the process of loving ourselves and we all bare scars that will stay with us throughout our lives.

2/ We all have fears whether in our heads or for real and we should most definitely face them head on and never stop facing them until they are fears no more. I wish I could face the fear of the dark (its silly with my age) but I can't but there's reasons I'm afraid of the dark which I need to address first.

3/ To love ourselves fully is a difficult task but if we don't love ourselves then who will? Yes m, they will weep because now you'll have no weaknesses for them to pick on.

4/ I absolutely loved the imagery here. I feel here you are living each day as it comes and so you should because who knows what's around the corner and if we did I'm guessing we wouldn't go lol.. "Trickles of purity, wet my lips." my fave line. I think we could and should all say no abit more, if thats what you meant.

    Nominated.
    Take it easy, Em

    Michael,

We could all love ourselves a little more, couldn't we?
Aside from the content, I love this because it's an acrostic that's done really well. When this form is thought about, it can be really good and you display some wonderful imagination and imagery here.

Well done and all the very best,

    Ben
