Glitter Pathways

She blows the glitter into the future
Decorating her hopes & dreams
Watching as it descends & sticks to the promises
She has made to herself
Late night candle light
Tomorrow's magic
Shimmers & sparkles
Untold secrets prised from sealed pockets of faith
Music & cigarette smoke
Entwine & drift on the warm evening air
Swirls that fade like so many things into nameless memories
Eyes flutter, full of sleep
Rosebud lips, slightly part
As the glitter shines on the pathways into the dark
Reflecting the light that resides in her heart

    Judging comment

    A captivating poem, the more times I read it, the more I'm drawn to it. I like how it's written in the third person as we look down on this magical, ethereal creature. Skilfully constructed and chocked full of imagery, we are transported to a magical world. Yet we are brought back to earth with the line "music and cigarette smoke entwine which for me adds depth and soul. Great poem
